Upload photos to a gallery
File types (iPhone photos, RAW files, GIFs and videos too), size limits, the copies Flashslash makes, photo order and storage.
How to upload
- Open the gallery from Galleries.
- Go to the Photos tab.
- Drag photos onto the box, or click it to choose files. You can pick hundreds at once.

Flashslash uploads three photos at a time. You'll see a progress bar, how many photos and megabytes are done, roughly how long is left, and a small picture of each photo as it goes.
Keep the page open until it finishes. If you try to leave, or click another button on the page, Flashslash asks first, because that would stop the photos not yet finished.
To put a whole batch in a scene as it uploads, type the scene in Scene for these photos, at the bottom of the upload box, before you drop the photos in. See Scenes, photo numbers and bulk tools.
If the connection drops
Flashslash retries each photo by itself, and tells you when the connection is slow. If photos still don't upload, you'll see how many, a Why list, and a Retry button.
You can also choose the same photos again. Photos already in the gallery (same file name and size) are skipped, and you'll see "Skipped" with how many. A photo that didn't finish shows "Didn't finish uploading" on the Photos tab; choose the same file again to finish it. Your client never sees unfinished photos.
File types and limits
- Photos: JPEG, PNG, WebP and TIFF, up to 100 MB each.
- iPhone photos (HEIC) work too. Flashslash turns them into JPEGs in your browser before uploading, so the JPEG becomes the original. If one can't be converted, you'll be asked to export it as JPEG.
- Animated GIFs: up to 100 MB each. They animate in the photo view, tiles say GIF, and clients download them as Animated GIF.
- RAW files: ARW, CR2, CR3, NEF, NRW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF and SRW, up to 300 MB each. See RAW files.
- Videos: MP4 or MOV, up to 30GB each. See Videos in galleries.
You can drop photos, GIFs, RAW files and videos in together.
- Flashslash checks that each file really is the type its name says. A file renamed to .jpg that isn't a JPEG is refused.
What Flashslash makes from each photo
Your original is kept exactly as you uploaded it, except that GPS location data is removed. Flashslash also makes these JPEG copies:
- Thumbnail, 800px on the long edge, for the grid.
- Phone view, 1400px, for the full-screen view on phones.
- Web & social, 2048px on the long edge.
- High resolution, 4096px on the long edge.
Smaller photos are never enlarged. Clients can download Web & social, High resolution, and the original, depending on your download settings (see Download rules and the download PIN).
The copies keep the date taken, the camera details and your copyright, so downloads land on the right day in your client's Photos app. The location is always removed. Thumbnails carry no details.
Order and cover
Within each upload, photos land in file name order (IMG_2 before IMG_10), however quickly each one finishes. Each new upload goes after the photos already in the gallery. Every photo gets a number on the Photos tab in that order.
The first photo becomes the cover until you pick another. See Cover photo, layout and colors.
Storage
Gallery photos, RAW files and videos count toward your storage by the size of the originals. The copies Flashslash makes don't count. When an upload takes you past 80% and again past 95% of your limit, you get a note in the app and an email.
When your storage is full, uploads stop with a message saying so. To keep uploading, move to a bigger plan on Plan & billing, or free up space. See Storage, video hours and fair use.
