Sell gift cards on your website
Turn on gift card sales, choose the amounts, and see how buyers send them, now or on a day they pick.
You can sell gift cards on your website. Buyers pay by card into your Stripe account, and Flashslash emails the code to the person it's for, straight away or on a day the buyer picks.
Turn it on
You need Stripe connected (see Connect Stripe to take payments).
- Go to Payments > Gift cards.
- Under On your website, tick Sell gift cards on my website.
- In Set amounts ($), type the amounts to offer, separated by commas, like 100, 200, 500. Each is $5 to $10,000, and up to eight are used.
- To let buyers type their own amount, tick Let buyers choose their own amount and set the Lowest other amount ($) and Highest other amount ($).
- Optionally, add A line for the page.
- Click Save.
Your gift card page address then shows under the form, and Open page lets you see it. It's also linked in your website's footer.
You need at least one set amount, or buyers choosing their own.
What the buyer fills in
- An amount.
- Their name and Their email: the person the card is for.
- Your name and Your email: the buyer.
- A message (optional).
- Send it on (optional): a day up to a year ahead, like a birthday. Left empty, it goes as soon as they pay.
Then they pay through Stripe.
A buyer who wants to hand it over themselves can tick Send it to me, so I can give it in person. The card then comes to the buyer's own email, ready to print or copy into a card, and there's no day to pick.
What happens after they pay
Sent right away:
- The recipient gets an email with the amount, the message and their code (like GIFT-7K3M-QX9P), with a Book a session button.
- The buyer gets an email saying the card is on its way. Stripe sends their receipt separately.
- You get a notification that a gift card was sold.
With a day picked:
- The buyer gets an email saying when it goes out.
- On the morning of that day (in your studio's time zone), the recipient gets their email, and the buyer gets a note that it's been sent.
- You get the "gift card sold" notification when they pay, not on the day.
Until then, the card shows Goes out and the date on Payments > Gift cards.
How recipients use it
- When they book, in the Gift card box on the booking page. It pays the deposit if it covers it, and anything left comes off the balance.
- On their balance later, in their client portal under Have a gift card?
A card can be used in parts, across bookings, until it runs out.
In your books
A card sold online counts as income on the day it's sold, even if it's sent later. When it's spent on a booking later, that spending isn't counted again. See Accounting.
To add a card by hand, cancel one, or check balances, see Manage gift cards.
