Video on your website
Show one of your gallery videos on your website: a Video section that plays when someone presses play, and a silent loop behind the opening in some designs.
Your website can show one film, picked from the videos in your galleries.
Choose the film
- Upload the video to a gallery (MP4 or MOV) and wait until it plays there.
- Open Website > Edit website and choose Site > Video.
- Click the video you want. It goes on your website straight away; it isn't part of the draft.
Its poster frame is the one you picked for it in the gallery. If you pick a new frame there later, choose the video here again to bring the new one over. Take it off removes the film from your website (the video stays in its gallery).
The Video section
Add Video under Sections, on any page. It shows the poster frame with a play button, and plays with sound only when someone presses play. Two layouts: Edge to edge, with your title above, or Framed, inside the page with your words beside it. Change the title and the line under it like any section's words.
Until a film is chosen, the section stays hidden.
Behind your opening
In Dusk, Stillwater and Exhibit, the film can also play behind your opening: silent, looping, in place of the first opening photo. Its poster shows first, so the page opens just as fast. Switch it off with Play it behind your opening (that switch goes in your draft, so publish to change it).
- A short film works best here: 10 to 30 seconds, filmed steady, with nothing that needs sound.
- Visitors who have asked their phone or computer for less motion, or to save data, see the poster frame instead. Everyone else gets a small pause button in the corner.
- It pauses while it's scrolled out of sight.
It's the same video as in your gallery, not a second copy, so it doesn't use more of your plan's video hours.
