What Flashslash is and how the admin is laid out
A quick tour of Flashslash and the groups in the side menu, so you know where everything lives.
Flashslash runs the business side of your photography: your website, a booking page where clients pick a time and pay a deposit, a client portal, contracts and forms, galleries for delivering photos, and the money that comes with all of it. Clients pay you straight into your own Stripe account, and Flashslash takes no transaction fee.

Everything you manage lives in your admin, called Studio: you'll see the word under the Flashslash logo at the top of the side menu. The side menu has one link for each area, in a few plain groups. Pages that belong together are tabs across the top of their area.
The menu
- At the top: Today, Calendar and Availability (tabs for Open times, Waitlists, Booking rules and Calendar connections). My sessions also appears when you've been assigned to shoot a session.
- Work: Bookings, Inquiries (with Proposals and Inquiry sources, where your clients found you), Messages (with Sent emails), Clients (with Newsletters), Forms & contracts and Galleries (with Print orders and Gallery defaults).
- Money: Invoices, Payments (with Gift cards and Online payments) and Accounting (with Crew pay).
- Setup: Packages (with Add-ons, Discount codes and Mini sessions), Automations (Workflows, Client emails and Inquiry follow-ups) and Website (tabs for Edit website, Design, Blog, Visits and Web address).
- Account: Settings (your studio, team, client portal and your own account), Plan & billing and Help center (with Contact support and Ideas & requests).
- At the bottom: Sign out, and your studio's name, which opens your website in a new tab.
Some menu items show a small number. On Today it counts bookings that need your attention, on Inquiries it counts new inquiries or follow-ups due, and on Forms & contracts it counts forms and contracts still waiting on a client.
The top bar
- The button at the far left (three lines) folds the side menu down to its icons, for more room. Point at the folded menu to see the names; click the button again to open it back up. Your computer remembers your choice.
- Search finds any client, booking, inquiry, gallery, form or page by name, email, phone or title. Press ⌘K on a Mac, or Ctrl+K on Windows, to open it from anywhere.
- + New starts a booking, client, gallery, inquiry or invoice, or sends a form or contract, from any page.
- The notification bell. See The notification bell.
- The moon (or, in dark mode, the sun) switches how the admin looks. See Dark mode and the admin's accent color.
- Your name opens a small menu: Your account, Settings, Plan & billing, View website, Help center and Sign out.
On a phone, the side menu folds into a Menu button, and View website moves into that menu.
In the side menu, areas with more than one page (like Inquiries, Clients, Galleries, Payments, Packages, Automations, Availability, Website and Help center) list their pages under them while you're in that area. The arrow beside one opens or closes its list.
Side panels
Some things open in a panel that slides in from the side, so you don't lose your place. A client, a form response or a sent email opened from another page (the bookings board, a booking, Today) shows in a side panel. Click Open full page to see it as a normal page, or Close (or press Esc) to go back to where you were.
Bookings and galleries always open as full pages.
Where to start
New studios see the setup guide at the top of the Today page. Your studio starts empty; if you'd like to click around first, the guide can load sample clients and bookings. Moving from another tool? See Moving to Flashslash from another tool.
